Congratulations to the Patrick Henry One-Act Team!! The team placed 4th in the Super Regionals Competition on Saturday with an Outstanding Acting Award for Lotte Gendel, Honorable Mentions to Laci Counts, Sophie Moore, Zen Moser, and an Outstanding Technical Award for our Technical Team. The team will celebrate their season with a FINAL PERFORMANCE on NOVEMBER 23 at 7 p.m. in the Kennedy-Reedy Theatre at the McGlothlin Center for the Arts, Emory & Henry University. Congratulations to the following Patrick Henry High School Rebel Voices Chorus members who were selected by audition to participate in the All-District Chorus: Sofia B. Twyla B. Laci C. Lotte G. Xavier G. Claire L. Zen M. Sophie M. Jaiden W. Brady H. (alternate) Greyson P. (alternate) In order to be chosen, students had to learn and perform a solo piece alone for two judges and read a short unfamiliar piece of music at sight. Most of these students had never auditioned for the high school All-District Chorus before. Being selected for All-District Chorus is one the highest honors a singer in Virginia can receive! Great job Rebels!

For the first time in school history, JSB and PHHS had teams competing in the RDL (Robot Drone League) regional competition! These teams brought home 1st place -PHHS and 2nd Place- JSBHS! Both will now advance to the national competition in January! #WashingtonWay

Promise Program: Representatives were thrilled to visit our high schools this week and share the exciting details about the Washington County Promise Program. This commitment by Wellspring Foundation of Southwest Viginia and Virginia Highlands Community College offers an incredible opportunity for high school students to attend VHCC with free tuition and jumpstart their future without the financial burden. During the visits, students learned about the requirements needed to take advantage of this life-changing program. It's time to start planning your next steps! To qualify for the Washington County Promise Program, students must: *Graduate high school between 2025 and 2037 *Live in Washington County, VA, for at least 12 months prior to graduation *Complete the FAFSA and VHCC scholarship applications *Choose a degree or workforce credential program *Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA once you're in college *Perform 8 hours of volunteer work each year Our high schoolers were eager to learn how they can take part in this program, and we're excited to see them take full advantage of this opportunity. Exciting news MES, GSMS, and PHHS families: Goodwill Industries of TennVA, Inc is bringing a tractor trailer full of winter clothing to PHHS on Monday, November 11 from 10 am-2 pm. All families are welcome to come by and get any clothing items needed for winter-FOR FREE!!!! The truck will be parked in the side parking lot by the PHHS gymnasium. We hope to see you there! Update: We have been given permission to allow handicap parking at the upper pass gate. Please note, this will be handicap parking only. Good afternoon Patrick Henry High School students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members: Our upper parking lot (pass gate) is currently being prepared for pavement and cannot be utilized for tomorrow's senior night home game (11/08). We have parking availability in the grass lot behind the baseball field, football/soccer practice field, as well as parking lots at the school. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause! Parking tomorrow will be first come-first serve. Football and cheer coaches, please instruct chaperones, coaches, volunteers, and student-athletes to park at the high school.

Patrick Henry High School’s one-act team was runner-up on Saturday, November 2nd in the VHSL Regional competition and will now advance to the Super Regional competition in Narrows, Virginia on Saturday, November 16th!! They were great! Sophie M. and Laci C. were recognized as Outstanding Actors. Lotte G. and Zen M. were given honorable mentions. The team earned a technical award in costuming. Congratulations on an outstanding performance and good luck at Super Regionals!!

Congratulations to Ms. Fields 2nd block Government class for winning the door decoration contest, sponsored by Communities in Schools, in celebration of Anti-Bullying and Drug Awareness Month.

A BIG THANK YOU to Emory & Henry Theatre Department! The Patrick Henry and AHS One-Act teams spent last Friday practicing a technical theatre day in the McGlothlin Center for the Arts on the Kennedy-Reedy Theatre stage. Students spent the day in rehearsal incorporating technical theatre skills such as lighting and sound design, while preparing for their upcoming VHSL competition. E&H professors and staff members created a stage environment similar to each school's competition stage, offering feedback and guidance throughout the day.

Last week many PHHS seniors took part in VCAW or Virginia College Application Week. During this week most colleges waive their application fee. A total of 7 different colleges visited Patrick Henry giving students a chance to find out more about their respective college.

On Saturday, October 26th, several PHHS faculty, staff, and administration, and their respective family members participated in an Abingdon town historic tour with Donnamarie Emmert! A wonderful time was had by all!

As part of Patrick Henry High School's Anti-Bullying Campaign for the month of October, PH welcomed Zac Bauermaster and his daughter Olivia . Zac is an elementary school principal in Pennsylvania, a successful author, and keynote speaker. Recently, Zac and Olivia co-wrote a book titled, "Lemon- Aid: Spreading Kindness One Cup at a Time". Their Anti-Bullying presentation was presented via Zoom to the entire student body. They challenged students at Patrick Henry to make a difference.
