🎭✨ Congratulations to Will Duncan, a junior at Patrick Henry High School, for finishing 3rd overall in the Barter Theatre Young Playwrights Festival!
This year’s competition drew nearly 300 submissions from students across East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, and Will’s play earned a top spot -- even performed live by the Barter Players on Monday morning!
A huge shoutout to Will and his teacher, Michele Duncan, for this amazing accomplishment.

🎉 Special Recognition at Patrick Henry High School
Tonight, we were honored to welcome several special guests to Patrick Henry High School — including Delegate Israel O’Quinn and his wife Emily O’Quinn, and Senator Todd Pillion -- in recognition of their continued advocacy for our students and schools at the state level.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to our local leaders: School Board Members Sanders Henderson and Lee Brannon; Board of Supervisors Chair Randy Pennington and Member Wayne Stevens Jr.; County Administrator Jason Berry; Sheriff Blake Andis; and Commissioner of the Revenue April Crabtree.
Thanks to the strong collaboration of these incredible partners, Patrick Henry High School has seen exciting facility improvements -- including a new field house, freshly paved parking areas, new handrails at the football stadium, and updated hallways and stairwells.
Additional upgrades include:
🏫 New lockers in the boys’ basketball locker room
🥎 A new softball batting cage
🤼♂️ Wrestling room enhancements (moisture barrier, flooring, LED lights, and garage door opener)
🎶 New drop ceiling, door, and lighting in the chorus room
🎨 New cabinets and countertops in the art room
🌿 Fresh gravel landscaping around the school
Even more exciting, a full auditorium renovation is set to begin in the coming months!
These projects -- along with continued improvements across Washington County Public Schools -- reflect our shared commitment to creating safe, welcoming, and functional spaces for our students, staff, and community.

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, Ms. Sexton’s class went to the Haynes Greenhouse in Glade Spring, Virginia. They explored the corn maze by following a map and logging checkpoints, they discussed growing pumpkins and other plants inside of a greenhouse, and then took a hayride. A great time was had by all!

Ms. Lindsey Stacy wears many hats as both a bus driver and dual enrollment calculus teacher — and she’s amazing at both!
She recently earned Be a Bean recognition for her calm response during a student medical emergency and for replying to a student’s math question… within three minutes… on a Sunday night!

It's homecoming week at Patrick Henry High School and these three alumni are throwing it back by celebrating "decades day". Mrs. Amy Moncibais - Assistant Principal, Dr. Beth Litz - Biology teacher, and Mrs. Elizabeth Belcher - Chemistry teacher are all three proud graduates of PHHS. Help us celebrate homecoming by coming out to the football game Friday night and cheer on our Rebels!

Call it the Patriot Act—the Rebels celebrated Constitution Day in a big way! 🇺🇸 Thanks to Delegate Israel O’Quinn for sharing his experience in government with our seniors, and to our SCA members for distributing tea to students and staff (don’t worry, none of it went to the harbor☕️)!

Last year students worked with the city of Glade Spring to design a commemorative mural celebrating the 150th anniversary of the town. This fall, Ms. Smith's Art 4 students Sammi B., Summer B., Nichole B., and Addy Y. painted the mural. These girls worked incredibly hard to get the mural finished and the hard work shows! We have been informed that MED Flight is planning to land their helicopter at the PH football field this afternoon. This is NOT related to a PHHS student or a PHHS employee.
