
Each Year, Washington County Public Schools partner with the Region Seven Virtual Academy (R7VA) to offer a rigorous, online learning experience for students who choose an alternative to the "brick and mortar" school setting.
You can apply for acceptance into the program by clicking the link below. The deadline for applying for the 2024-25 School Year is July 12, 2024. Applications close at that point and acceptance notifications will go out by email on or before July 26th. If you are considering applying, please do so by July 12. On Monday, April 15, the JSB Winter Guard came to WMS to perform for 7th and 8th grade girls. Guard members shared their favorite moments and encouraged middle school students to tryout in the upcoming weeks.

Washington County Schools is proud to be involved in the Washington County Day of Service happening on Saturday, April 20th. This is an opportunity for all of us to be involved in giving back to organizations in our county that provide valuable services to those in need.

Mrs. Haderer's Math Classes are constructing/designing Board-Games. Each group has selected an SOL Topic to use within their game. Students will create Game play directions, goals, rules, answer keys, pieces, props, question cards (SOL related), and etc to play their game. Each board game is designed to fit a theme of their choice. Students will test and play each other's games when completed.

Due to the increasing number of jobs in the realm of Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM), Mrs. Chaney at Wallace Middle School created a Science Career Fair for students on Wednesday, April 3rd. Many community professionals were eager to talk to students and show them the importance of their jobs and how STEM is important in their daily duties, responsibilities, and routines. The following professions/organizations attended the event: U.S. Marshals Service, General Shale, Bell/Aeronautical Accessories, BVU, Washington County Life Saving Crew, Department of Wildlife Resources, Washington County Fire/Rescue, Westfall Orthodontics, TechTrek, Probation & Parole, Countryside Realty, Appalachian Contracting Co., LLC, Blended Pedaler, Blue Door Garden, Wallace Repair Shop, Goodson & Kinderhook, Washington County Service Authority, Natural Heritage, & Natural Tunnel State Park.






There will be a parent meeting for band students who are going on the Carowinds trip this upcoming weekend. The meeting will be held at JSB at 6:00 on April 9.


WMS students went outside at 2:50 today to try to view the solar eclipse. Today's clouds and overcast skies made viewing the science phenomenon very difficult.

During this time, students asked Dr. Perrigan about his experiences as a superintendent, important decisions as an educational leader, and his vision for the future of Washington County Public Schools. On Tuesday, April 2, WMS hosted 5th grade students from HPES and VIES to welcome them to middle school. WMS Student Ambassadors shared information about middle school and gave all fifth graders a tour. Students had lunch in the WMS cafeteria and enjoyed ice cream outside before they returned to their elementary schools.
