Patrick Henry junior, Heather W. participated in the Appalachian Peace Education Center’s 32nd annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration, by writing and submitting an essay discussing Martin Luther King, Jr's continued
influence on society.

The event, titled “Together Arm in Arm: Speaking Out, Taking a Stand,” , held on Saturday, March 19, began with a march in Abingdon that led to Abingdon United Methodist Church, where Heather and other Washington County High School students read their award winning essays as part of the celebration.  Heather's essay can be read in the January 23 edition of the Washington County News.
